Euphyllia Divisa Green Tip - Frogspawn Coral
Frogspawn Coral (Euphyllia divisa) is a Large Polyp Stony (LPS) coral that is a popular choice for the home aquarist who wants to add interest to their reef aquarium. It is also a hardier coral that gets its name for the tentacle tips that are a different color than its body and resemble frog eggs. When it is housed in a lighted aquarium, this pink and gold beauty is even more intriguing. Unlike many other corals, the Frogspawn Coral stays in its open state and does not close up, so always displays their vibrantly colored polyps.
With tentacles that sway with the water flow, it is easy to see why Frogspawn corals draw interest. Because of their aggressive behavior, however, be sure to place them away from other corals so their sweeper tentacles cannot reach the other corals.
Aquacultured corals ship from our LiveAquaria® Wisconsin Facility, home of our LiveAquaria® Certified Captive Grown Corals, so they receive the highest level of care from our experienced and professional staff. Aquacultured corals reduce the impact of natural collection, and because they are grown in captivity, are accustomed to a home aquarium.
The Frogspawn Coral requires a moderate care level. The ideal environment for them is an established reef aquarium with medium waterflow and moderate lighting. Water temperatures should be maintained at 72°-78° F, pH levels between 8.1-8.4, and salinity within the range of 1.022-1.025. They require the addition of supplemental calcium, strontium, and other trace elements to the water.
Frogspawn Corals get nutrition from organic matter and food particles in the water, as well as algae that grows on their tissues, but they should also receive supplemental feeding of brine shrimp, micro-plankton, or other foods designed for filter-feeding invertebrates especially when housed in reef aquariums that do not contain fishes.
