Comathus belong to the Crinoidea and are echinoderm marine animals. Despite their name suggesting they are a plant, sea lilies are indeed animals. They inhabit the ocean floor, where they feed on small particles carried by currents. They can be found in both shallow and deep waters and are primarily known for their beautiful, delicate appearance. These animals are a stunning addition to the aquarium but are not the easiest creatures to care for. This animal needs to be well-fed with specialized coral feed and phytoplankton. It is also not advisable to keep this animal with aggressive fish or shrimp.

Feather Stars (Crinoidea) are relatives of starfish that use their long arms to filter food particles out of the water. Ideally, they should be fed multiple times daily with fine foods, which makes them challenging to keep. The ideal aquarium would be a system with non-photosynthetic corals.

The animals should be handled with care, as they tend to shed arms if they are disturbed.
